Cancer Pain

Cancer Pain Treatment

Cancer-related pain is almost ubiquitous in cancer patients.  The overwhelming fear of most cancer patients is the fear of pain and the inability of the medical profession to adequately address their needs.  Therapy for cancer-related pain includes many interventional and neurolytic (permanent nerve-blocking) procedures as well as pharmacologic treatment with appropriate pain medications.  Prior to forming Utah Pain Specialists with Drs. Matsumura and Shah, Dr. Rajagopal was a faculty member at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.  The physicians at Utah Pain Specialists can offer their patients the best care for cancer-related pain.

How Is Cancer Pain Treated?

Medical tests may not show the cause of your cancer pain. Many times, the cause of cancer pain is never known. Cancer pain can get better even if you do not know the cause. We offer injection and non injection therapy to treat chronic cancer pain. Possible treatment options and treatment injections that might be beneficial will be decided upon pending examination and evaluation by your physician:

  • Depends on tumor location and pain location
